Michael Hackett is a professor of directing and theater history in the UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television. He has directed for the Royal Opera, Covent Garden; the Royal Theatre at the Hague; the Centrum Sztuki Studio and Dramatyczny Theatre in Warsaw; the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl; Musica Angelica; LA Theatre Works; the Geffen Playhouse; and the Los Angeles Opera, where he is a frequent lecturer. He recently directed Sophocles' Philoktetes for the Getty Villa, and he is preparing to direct with Hanay Geiogamah, The Way to Rainy Mountain, by N. Scott Momaday, for the American Indian Dance Theatre.
