Nathan Gardels is the editor of New Perspectives Quarterly and the Global Viewpoint service of the Los Angeles Times Syndicate. He has written for, among others, the Wall Street Journal, the Los Angeles Times, the New York Times, the Washington Post, Harper’s, U.S. News and World Report, and The New York Review of Books and such foreign publications as Corriere della Sera, El Pais, Le Figaro, The Straits Times (Singapore), Yomiuri Shimbun, O’Estado de São Paulo, and The Guardian. He was executive editor of the Institute for National Strategy from 1983 to 1985, where he conducted policy research in Moscow, Beijing, Stockholm, and Bonn. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
