Carolyn See, a celebrated novelist and memoirist of life in Southern California, has written seven novels, most recently There Will Never Be Another You, and several works of nonfiction, including Making a Literary Life: Advice for Writers and Other Dreamers. She has a PhD in American literature from UCLA, where she is an adjunct professor of English. She regularly reviews books for the Washington Post and also serves on the board of the PEN Center USA West. Among her awards are the Robert Kirsch Body of Work Award (1993) and a Guggenheim Fellowship in fiction. Photo by Irene Fertik
