Lynell George is an award-winning L.A.-based journalist who covers arts and culture and social issues with an emphasis on place and identity . A longtime staff writer for both the Los Angeles Times and LA Weekly, her work has also appeared in various other publications including Smithsonian magazine, Black Clock, Vibe, Essence, Ms, and online at The Root. She is currently an assistant professor at Loyola Marymount University where she teaches journalism and is the author of No Crystal Stair: African Americans in the City of Angels.
