The USC Libraries are continually enriching the array of online resources and services we offer for students, faculty, and staff. These and other digital initiatives reflect our commitment to supporting technology enhanced learning, distance learning, continuing education and globalization at USC.
Proxy Server: Simplifies Remote Access to Electronic Resources
Now remote users simply log in to the proxy server with a USC user name and password and enjoy the same secure, fast access as anyone working from the USC campus. Anyone with a valid USC user name can use the proxy server at libproxy.usc.edu/login. USC Libraries resources now include more than 35,000 electronic journals and databases. Document Delivery: Supports Faculty and Distance Learners
The USC Libraries’ Document Delivery service provides electronic copies of journal articles and chapters of books that are already part of the libraries’ collections. Items not available at USC will be obtained from another academic library. Library staff scan requested items, post them to a library server, and deliver them via an e-mailed link. The service is available to all faculty as well as students enrolled in distance-learning programs. Faculty and eligible students can request electronic document delivery using ILLiad, the familiar interlibrary loan system. More Info >> usc.edu/libraries/services/idd/interlibrary_loan/index.php
24/7 Live Chat Reference: Provides Instant Research Services
The USC Libraries collaborates with a consortium of libraries across the country to provide reference services by academic librarians 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Remote users can also e-mail individual USC subject librarians for help with specific research topics, receive a response within 24 hours using the Ask-A-Librarian e-mail feature, or speak with librarians by phone during business hours. Electronic Reserves: Facilitate Classroom Instruction
Copies of book chapters, journal articles, music scores, homework solutions, pretests, syllabi, and other course materials can be scanned and uploaded to course reserve Web sites to enable online access for students. Instructors do not need to provide hard copies of published materials in the libraries’ collections, and they can request that the libraries purchase materials when appropriate.
