Research assistance is available at the consultation desk in the Leavey Library Information Commons. Assistance is also available online via the Ask-A-Librarian service.

Collections

The collections most frequently of use for General Education Program classes are located primarily in Leavey Library, with additional materials in the Edward L. Doheny Jr. Memorial Library and the Applied Social Sciences Library. Leavey’s collection supports the General Education curriculum in all disciplines at the undergraduate level in the following areas of specialization:

  • Cultures and Civilizations I (Greco-Roman and Judeo-Christian traditions)
  • Cultures and Civilizations II (African, Asian, Latin American, Middle Eastern, Native American, & other alternative traditions)
  • Scientific Principles
  • Investigations in Science and Technology
  • Arts and Letters (philosophy, literature, art, film, music)
  • Social Issues (local, national, and international)
