Highlighted Community Programs
EOPC's three, direct-service programs assist young people in developing the academic and motivational skills they need to be successful in college.
USC and selected schools near the University Park and Health Sciences campuses form partnerships to provide educational, cultural, and developmental opportunities for more than 12,000 pre-kindergarten to 12th-grade neighborhood children and youth.
USC faculty and staff annually donate hundreds of thousands of dollars to support USC-community partnerships that are transforming the neighborhoods surrounding the University Park and Health Sciences campuses.
USC students bridge theory and practice by participating in service activities in neighborhood schools and community organizations.
Neighborhood volunteers watch over local children as they walk to and from school, home, parks, the library and other area institutions. When the program began in 1996, it had 25 volunteers. Today, that number has risen to more than 900.
By offering qualified businesses the opportunity to compete for USC projects, the Local Vendor Program assists small companies surrounding the Health Sciences and University Park campuses, regardless of owner ethnicity or gender.
USC hosts an on-campus, summer day-camp experience for children ages 10-16 that combines sports and education.
An exceptional program offers children in USC's neighborhood a full four-and-a-half-year scholarship if they and their parents can supply desire, hard work and commitment.

The oldest student-run community-outreach program on campus, Troy Camp is a summer retreat in the mountains that gives inner-city children an experience of the wonders and beauty of nature.
