Fiesta Educativa
Fiesta Educativa, Inc., was founded in 1978 by family members and professionals to inform and assist Latino families in obtaining services and in caring for their children with special needs and disabilities. It is one of the few organizations in the nation that is dedicated to empowering Latino families of persons with special needs through education, training, referral, information and advocacy services. This is accomplished through such projects as the "Fiesta Familiar" home-based training program; an annual two-day, bilingual conference at USC University Park; and regional conferences in San Diego, the Imperial Valley, Orange County, San Jose, and Sacramento.

FIRST Robotics Competition
Each high school team, using identical supplies of parts and software, designs and constructs a remote-controlled robot capable of performing a pre-determined set of tasks in a competition. Each year the competition is different, so that returning teams always have a new challenge. The robots compete in an arena with other robots in two-minute rounds. This requires teams to strategize and build into their design both offensive and defensive capabilities. USC serves as the host institution for the Southern California competition.
