USC Retiree Book Club

You may not be aware of the existence of the USC Emeriti Center Retiree Book Club. The Book Club was started by the USC Emeriti Center eleven years ago as an interest group open to all retired staff and faculty. A wide variety of books have been read and discussed over the years. USC authors have been generous in sharing their books with us. We welcome new members to join our group.

Our Book Club meetings are held the fourth Thursday of the month, September through June, (except for holidays) from 1:00-3:00 p.m. in Gerontology, Suite #219.

Previous books discussed include Michael Cunningham's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel, The Hours, William Saroyan's acclaimed novel, The Human Comedy, J.K. Rowling's best-selling Harry Potter series, and Ron White's Lincoln's Greatest Speech: The Second Inaugural. We also seek book recommendations from our members and have reviewed various books on fiction, biography, history, and poetry as well as current best-sellers.

Beginning in fall 2003, the group will gather for a noontime buffet luncheon (price $8.50) at the nearby International College at Parkside Restaurant. Following lunch, the group will meet in Gerontology, Suite #219.

We encourage you to join the Book Club and hope to see you at our next meeting. Email emeriti@usc.edu with your name and address to be put on the mailing list.
