More than 50 million family caregivers in the U.S. provide care for a chronically ill or aging family member or friend. It is estimated that family caregivers provide some $306 million in services to America's health care system, accounting for 80 percent of the long-term care in the U.S. Most family members who provide assistance don't see themselves as caregivers. Yet a caregiver is anyone who helps a relative or friend with household chores, errands, personal care, finances or even a daily check-in call. This presentation by Shawn Herz will define who family caregivers are and explore the challenges they face. Come and also learn about the resources and assistance available in the community to support family caregivers.
