Michael H. Halloran

Michael H. Halloran retired from USC in late 1997 after 31 years of service.  After completing his Ph.D. in physics at the University of Wisconsin and nearly three years of post-doctoral research at the Bell Telephone Laboratories, he joined USC's Department of Physics in 1966.  Through community service, he developed an avocation in community development and public policy which led him to accept appointments in the university's Center for Urban Affairs and then its School of Public Administration.  In 1978 he left faculty service and became a full-time administrator, assisting the development of the university's student information systems, leading ultimately to an appointment as Dean of Admissions and Financial Aid in 1984 and finally as Associate Vice President for Government Relations, in which capacity he serve until his retirement.  Mike first joined the Emeriti Center in January 2001 as an interim replacement for Bill Faith during Bill's overseas duties for the Annenberg School that spring.  He developed and manages the Emeriti Center's several e-mail distribution lists.
