3.28 GPSS and the Women's Concerns Committee present the third in our noontime series: Managing Sexism in the Workplace
12 to 1:30 pm in Doheny Intellectual Commons
Have you ever found yourself in an uncomfortable or even hostile situation and wondered how you got there? Or wondered what to do? Come to our noontime panel about how to navigate sexism in the workplace. The panel will focus specifically on situations that graduate students might face, including encountering sexism in the classroom, in the lab, and in other work environments. Speakers from various offices on campus will provide strategies for navigating these situations and describe campus resources that exist to help.
Although the focus of the session is on graduate students, all in the campus community are welcome. Food will be served. Questions? Contact Margaret, the Women's Concerns Committee Chair, at gpsswcc@gmail.com

The Women's Concerns Committee is sponsoring a trip to see the new exhibit WACK! Art and the Feminist Revolution at MOCA. Meet and speak with five prominent California judges, including the first African-American Superior Court judge in the United States, at the Women's Law Association's judges panel: Female Leadership in the Courtroom. The judges will speak to students about their ascent to the bench and the choices that they made along the way. The panel will be followed by a wine reception in the cafe foyer. 3.20 The Brain Society Event
The International Brain Mapping and Intra-operative Surgical Planning Society-USC Chapter (also known as the Brain Society) is holding an event featuring Dr. James Weiland and the Doheny Vision Research Center. Dr. Weiland is the Retinal Prosthesis Testbed Leader at the Biomimetic MicroElectronic Systems Engineering Research Center at the USC Health Sciences Campus. This is a great opportunity to hear about the prosthesis first-hand and to see the center where such eye-opening (pun intended) research takes place! Time: 4-6 PM Location: DVRC Auditorium, HSC. FREE FOOD! There are a couple of options for transportation to HSC and back. Easiest would be to take the intercampus shuttle that leaves every half hour from UPC to HSC and back. It departs from the 1) JEP house and 2) 34th Street and McClintock and will drop you off right opposite DVRC itself. I would suggest taking the 3:45 PM tram. On the return trip, the tram departs HSC at 6:15 PM. We are also providing limited transportation by carpool. If you would like to do this, please email me back ASAP since spots are limited. 4.7 Want to go rock climbing with USC LEAD?
USC LEAD is going rock climbing in Joshua Tree on Saturday, April 7. USC students - $50.00 includes rock climbing guides with gear and a boxed lunch. Limited Space available – first come basis. Come by TSC front desk to register for the trip.
