Home > Programs > HERS Institutes Higher Education Resource Services InstitutesThe prestigious Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Institutes offer intensive residential professional development experiences for women faculty and administrators in mid-level and senior-level positions in higher education. HERS offers three institutes, one month-long summer program and two multiple weekend programs during the academic year. Each of the HERS Institutes provide participants with opportunities to learn from senior women leaders and higher education scholars. The curriculum prepares participants for institutional leadership roles with the knowledge and skills to achieve organizational priorities and maximizing available resources. In addition, HERS Institute participants work with HERS faculty and alumnae to develop the professional skills and networks needed to advance as leaders in higher education administration. HERS Institutes DescriptionsHERS Bryn Mawr Summer InstituteEach summer since 1976, the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute has provided a residential program presenting an intensive leadership and management development curriculum for approximately 65 women faculty and administrators.
HERS Denver Summer InstituteCreated in 2008 the HERS Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration at the University of Denver offers approximately 40 women faculty and administrators the opportunity to participate in an intensive leadership and management development program preparing them for institutional leadership roles in higher education administration.
HERS Wellesley InstituteEstablished in 1976, the HERS Wellesley Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration's consists of four cumulative three-day sessions occurring throughout the academic year, focusing on leadership and management development. Originally intended for women from the New England area, this HERS Institute now serves women from across the country with approximately 50 faculty and administrators participating each year.
Application InformationWomen in Management administers the annual application process for the selection of USC women faculty and/or staff to attend one or more of the HERS Institutes. The 2013 application deadline is 3:00 p.m., January 11, 2013. Please note this is not the deadline for applying to HERS; however, USC must review all applications and determine which applicants it will sponsor prior to the candidate's submittal to HERS.
