HERS Institutes

Women in Management administers the annual application process for the selection of  USC women faculty and/or staff member(s) to attend one or more of the prestigious Higher Education Resource Services (HERS) Institutes

The HERS Institutes offer intensive residential professional development experiences for women in mid- and senior-level positions in higher education administration.  Offered in both a month-long summer program and in multiple weekend series during the academic year, the HERS Institutes provide participants with opportunities to learn from senior women leaders and higher education scholars.  The curriculum prepares participants for institutional leadership roles with knowledge, skills and perspectives for achieving institutional priorities and maximizing institutional resources. In addition, HERS Institute participants work with HERS Faculty and HERS Alumnae to develop the professional skills and networks needed for advancing as leaders in higher education administration.

HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute – month-long summer program typically mid-June to mid-July.   Each summer since 1976, the HERS Bryn Mawr Summer Institute has provided a month-long residential program presenting an intensive leadership and management development curriculum for approximately seventy women faculty and administrators on the campus of Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.  The 2009 institute will occur Saturday, June 20 – Wednesday, July 15, 2009.

HERS Institute at Wellesley College – a series of 5 weekends spread from October through April.  Started in 1976, the HERS Wellesley Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration has brought 50 women each year to Wellesley College for a series of five inter-related weekend seminars occurring across the academic year.  Originally focused on women from New England, today this HERS Institute serves women from across the country.   The 2009/2010 institute dates are October 15-17, 2009; November 20-21, 2009; January 29-30, 2010; March 11-13, 2010; and April 9-10, 2010.

HERS Institute at the University of Denver – one week plus series of 3 weekends from August through November.  Newly created in 2008 the HERS Institute for Women in Higher Education Administration at the University of Denver offers 40 women faculty and administrators the opportunity to participate in an intensive leadership and management development program preparing them for institutional leadership roles in higher education administration.  The 2009 institute dates are  August 2 – 7; September 11-12; October 23-24; and November 13-14, 2009.
