William C. Oberlin

With more almost 40 years of experience in aviation and the aerospace industry, 18 of which have been devoted to working in Korea, Bill Oberlin was named President of Boeing Korea in January 2002, with expanded responsibilities for leading all of Boeing's company-wide initiatives in Korea.

His role as President of Boeing Korea began in April 2000, with primary responsibilities for coordinating Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Military Aircraft & Missiles, and Space & Communications efforts in Korea. Oberlin has served in various executive positions with Boeing since 1985.

Prior to his current position, Oberlin was the Boeing Space and Communications Group Director for International Business Development, Asia-Pacific. Oberlin was responsible for new business development and sales and marketing support for the Space and Communications Group's products and services in the Asia-Pacific region.

In June 1997, Oberlin returned to the Boeing International Corporation office in Seoul after a three-year absence to assume sales and marketing responsibility for all Boeing Defense and Space Group products and services in Korea. From 1995 through mid-1997, Oberlin served as Regional Sales Director for Boeing Rotorcraft - Southeast Asia, managing the regional office in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

In 1992 Oberlin took a three-year absence from Boeing during which he was Executive Vice President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea. He also served on the Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers, and the US-Korea Business Council.

Joining Boeing in 1985, Oberlin was charged with Boeing Helicopter Company Regional Sales and Marketing Manager for Far East Helicopter Sales. Before joining The Boeing Company, Oberlin was an officer in the United States Air Force serving in various operational flying command and staff positions.

Oberlin holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from DePauw University, a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and is a graduate of Culver Military Academy. He also was a Federal Executive Fellow at the Brookings Institution in Washington, D.C.

Oberlin, his wife and daughter reside in Seoul, Korea where they are active in several civic and professional organizations. Oberlin currently is the President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea, a Director of the United Service Organization (USO) and member of the Seoul City Foreign Investment Advisory Council. He also advises the ROK President Roh, Moo-hyun as a member of the National Economic Advisory Council and recently joined the Chosun Ilbo CEO Advisory Committee and Inter-Korean Economic Cooperation Committee of the Federation of Korea Industries (FKI) as its Special Commissioner.
