Glenn Sonnenberg
Glenn A. Sonnenberg is President of Legg Mason Real Estate Investors, Inc., a subsidiary of Legg Mason, Inc. (NYSE:LM), managing institutional and high net worth capital in real estate investments throughout the United States. In such capacity, he is the President of Legg Mason Real Estate Capital, a private REIT investing principally in high leverage debt, mezzanine finance and preferred equity, with over $600MM in investment capacity. Mr. Sonnenberg has been directly responsible for the acquisition, management and/or disposition of over $4.5BB of real estate and debt investments in the United States and Canada in the last ten years.
Prior to joining Legg Mason Real Estate Investors, Inc., Glenn was Managing Director of Prudential Carbon Mesa, where he was co-CEO and the senior executive for funds management and served as acting-COO of the parent (NASDAQ:WMFG). Previously, he was President of ING Real Estate Investors and Executive Vice President of Kearny Street Real Estate Company (a subsidiary of Morgan Stanley), both opportunistic real estate investors and managers.
Mr. Sonnenberg is President of the Board of Directors of Bet Tzedek?the House of Justice, providing legal services to the indigent, elderly and immigrants. He serves on the Board of Trustees of the University of Southern California, is President-elect of the USC Alumni Association Board of Governors and is a Board member of the USC Friends of the Libraries (producers of the annual Scripter Award). He also serves on the Board of Directors of Para los Ninos, helping children out of poverty and providing after school programs.
A graduate of the University of Southern California, B.A. 1977, History, magna cum laude, phi beta kappa, Mr. Sonnenberg also received his J.D. in 1980 from USC. Mr. Sonnenberg began his career as a real estate and finance partner in the Los Angeles law firm of Allen, Matkins, Leck, Gamble and Mallory. He is a member of the California and Los Angeles County Bar Associations. He frequently speaks on real estate and finance to professional organizations and serves as an expert witness in these areas.
Glenn is married to Andrea Lynn Sonnenberg. They have three children: Jake, Lauren and Bradley.
