USC CLINICAL AND TRANSLATIONAL HEALTH SCIENCES
Drawing from experience of the NIH Roadmap and extensive community input, the National Institutes of Health has launched a new program designed to transform clinical and translational research, so that new treatments can be developed more efficiently and delivered more quickly to patients.
The Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSAs) program will create a definable academic home for the discipline of clinical and translational science. Specifically, this program will encourage the development of novel methods and approaches to clinical and translational research, enhance informatics and technology resources, and improve training and mentoring to ensure that new investigators can navigate the increasingly complex research system.
USC is taking an active role in pursuing CTSA funding. For more information, refer to the following resources:

USC HEALTH DISPARITIES
A high level of interest in health disparities has been expressed by USC Health Collaborative members. A Health Disparities Colloquium hosted by the Collaborative in February 2006 was attended by approximately 45 researchers. A research and networking interest cluster has been formed and includes more than 70 individuals throughout the university. Working groups also were formed in several areas.
