Michael J. Lacey
Michael J. Lacey is a Senior Scholar at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., where he retired in June, 2001 after thirty two years of service in various staff positions, among them Assistant Director of the Center (1974-1981) and Director of its Environmental Studies Program (1981-1984). From 1984 to 2001 he was Director of the Division of United States Studies and responsible for the Center's program of scholarly research, meetings and publications on American society and politics. Prior to joining the staff of the Wilson Center at its beginning in 1969, he served as a writer/editor for the Office of Ecology at the National Museum of Natural History at the Smithsonian Institution. Dr. Lacey is a graduate (1965) of Canisius College in Buffalo, N.Y., and holds a doctorate in American Civilization from the George Washington University. He is a member of the editorial boards of various journals, and serves on the Boards of various Catholic research institutions.
