Research Description

Professor Edmands studies conservation biology and evolutionary genetics of marine populations using a combination of fieldwork, molecular genetic analyses and controlled breeding programs. Using a tidepool copepod, Tigriopus californicus, as a model for understanding outbreeding depression, the Edmands lab is developing a genetic linkage map and assessing interactions within and between chromosomes that reduce the fitness of interpopulation hybrids. Other projects include studies of genetic structure in striped marlin and in calico bass.

Note: The publications listed below were obtained from the PubMed database. Unfortunately this database does not index publications in many important journals in the field of marine population and conservation genetics and thus does not include many of Dr. Edmand's most notable publications. For more information about her research and publications, please visit her other website given at the top of this page. Thank you.
