Research Description

My research involves the use of mathematical models for the evolution of organisms and their genes. We model the unobserved ancestry that relates all individuals, and helps explain their patterns of variation, in order to make inference about evolutionary parameters and events of interest. Such work involves the use of computationally intensive methods and simulation studies. Wherever possible, we prefer to simulate data rather than get our hands dirty with the real thing. Our current focus is on the fine-mapping of disease genes and the structure of the human genome.
