Research Description

The overall goal of my lab is to design and develop novel anticancer and antiviral therapeutics useful for clinical trials. The major emphasize of my lab is to foster a multidisciplinary program in modern techniques for drug discovery. We are especially interested to identify small molecule inhibitors via three-dimensional data base searching and to identify drugs targeting HIV-1 integrase, apoptosis, angiogenesis, cell-cycle regulation and DNA repair pathways. Current projects include target identification and target validation, mechanism of drug action and identification of drug binding sites and microarray technology. We will participate in translational research program with the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center on campus. Students and postdoctoral fellows interested in drug design and discovery, cellular and molecular pharmacology, medicinal and computational chemistry and molecular modeling are especially encouraged to visit the lab and discuss projects.
