. Agency: National Institute of Dental Research

. Type: R25 (RR10204, Year 1-6) Period: September 30, 1994 to September 29, 2000

. The long term objective of this project is to provide minority high school students with a substantial biomedical laboratories experience, which will allow them to experience the excitement of hands-on research and the fulfillment of completion of a significant amount of experimentation.

"A Center for the Study of Health Care"

. Principal Investigator: Charles F. Shuler, D.M.D., Ph.D.

. Agency: State of CA/Dept. Corp

. Type: Western Dental/CS, Year 1-5 Period: July 1, 1998 to June 30, 2003

. The major goal of this project is to focus on activities related to the development of predoctoral dental student curriculum, continuing education for practicing dentists and evaluation of the impact of curricular topics on dental practice patterns.

"California Science Project-USC-LAUSD/CSP Fellowship" (To develop teacher's leadership).

. Principal Investigator: Charles F. Shuler, D.M.D., Ph.D.

. Agency: California Science Project

. Type: HS91/96, Years 1-11 (Period: July 1,1991 to June 30,2002 )

. The long-tem1 objetive of this project is to develop leadership skills that are needed to fom1 partnership, build networks, and initiate peer relationships that are mutually beneficial.

"Cellular Transduction for Drug Delivery in Cancer"

. Co-Principal Investigator: Charles F. Shuler, D.M.D., Ph.D.

. Agency: National Cancer Institute

. Type: FPOl (CA59318, Years 1-5) Period: June 1,1997 to May 31,2000

. The long tern objective of this project is to treat animal models of various malignancies with polypeptides produced and secreted by ex vivo transduced cells subsequently transplanted.

"SMAD-Mediated Signaling During Prostate Growth and Development"

. Principal Investigator: Charles F. Shuler, D.M.D., Ph.D.

. Agency: U.S. Army Medical Research Acquisition Activity

. Type: DAMD17-01-1-0100 Period: Sep. 17, 2001 to Oct. 16,2004

. The major goal of this project is to test the innovative ideas of Smad-mediated signaling during prostate development using novel experimental technologies.
