in Genetic, Molecular and Cellular Biology

Students in PIBBS and in any of the PIBBS-affiliated PhD programs will have the opportunity to apply for membership in a research training program sponsored by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) with two main goals: 1) to foster an interdisciplinary approach to biological and biomedical research; 2) to introduce students to methods of computational biology used to analyze complex data sets.   (More information)

Bridges Minority Partnerships

We are partners with California State University at Fullerton in the Bridges Program. This program is sponsored by the National Institutes of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS) for the purpose of facilitating the transition from community colleges to four year institutions and from masters-degree programs to PhD-degree programs with the goal of increasing the number of under-represented minority students going into biomedical research. Please visit the website of the CSUF Bridges Program for   (More information).

NIH Graduate Partnerships Program:   The NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education sponsors the Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) to enhance interdisciplinary, collaborative research between NIH and university research faculty. GPP support enables students to conduct some or all of their research in an NIH lab. (More information).

USC Joins Community Of Science:   All USC researchers can sign up for a free account to access web-based resources for locating research funding opportunities, identifying potential collaborators, publicizing their own research, and conducting research online.   (More information).

History of USC:   Founded in 1880, the University of Southern California is the oldest university in the region. In 2005, USC celebrated its 125th anniversary.   (More information).
