JULIA PLOTTS, Assistant Professor of Clinical Finance & Business Economics
She teaches courses on Financial Analysis & Valuation in both the MBA and undergraduate programs.
She received her MBA in Corporate Finance and Strategic Management from the University of Southern California.
Her areas of expertise include: Corporate Finance, Mergers and Acquisitions and Valuation.
She stays actively involved in the valuation community. During 2006-2007 she served on the review committee for the text: "The Art and Science of Corporate Investment Decisions." by Sheridan Titman and John Martin (expected pub date 8/07). She also served as a contributor to the text; her mini-case on Dick's Sporting Goods IPO will be included in the chapter on comparable companies valuation analysis. She is continuing to work with the authors on the text's accuracy check and Powerpoint materials.
Julia was a recipient of the Marshall Golden Apple Award for Excellence in Teaching during 2004-2005 and 2006-2007.
Julia served as Assistant Department Chair for the Finance & Business Economics Department from 2003-2006.
Prior to joining the faculty at Marshall, Julia worked within the investment banking group of Banc of America Securities LLC where her work involved the origination, structuring and execution of mergers and acquisitions and various capital raising transactions for publicly and privately held companies across a broad range of industries.
She also worked as a lobbyist on financial services regulatory and legislative issues for the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and the New York-based corporate law-firm, Davis Polk & Wardwell. She was a member of the legislative staff for the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Banking and Financial Services, and the Subcommittee on Capital Markets, Securities & Government Sponsored Enterprises during the 104th Congress. She has consulted for a variety of organizations, including Epson America International.
