Sarah Bottjer and Maja Mataric Honored with 2009 USC-Mellon Awards for Excellence in Mentoring

The 5th Annual Mellon Mentoring Honors Reception was held on Tuesday April 21st, at the University Club. The USC-Mellon Awards for Excellence in Mentoring seek to recognize exceptional mentoring. They are presented to faculty members and graduate students who demonstrate excellence in mentoring by guiding and nurturing collegial and professional development.

Among the awardees this year was Sarah Bottjer, Professor of Neurobiology in the Department of Biological Sciences of the USC College of Letters, Arts and Sciences. Bottjer was honored for "Faculty Mentoring Faculty."

Also honored was Professor of Computer Science and Senior Associate Dean for Research, Maja Mataric, of the Viterbi School of Engineering who was recognized for "Faculty Mentoring Graduate Students."
