INSTRUCTIONS: Please complete this form to be certified by a faculty panel for breadth of academic fields. Fields in red are required.

The certification of breadth of fields will be based on the extent to which your two programs of study are widely separate and distinct, and require you to stretch intellectually as a student. Those who meet the requirements will be eligible for the Renaissance Scholar academic honor, and to compete for $10,000 in Renaissance Scholar Prizes that have been specially authorized by the USC Board of Trustees.

You will receive a confirmation of receipt of this form by email within a few days.

Note: In order to apply, you must be a USC undergraduate in good standing with 32 or more units completed. Furthermore, please re-submit a web application if you have changed your major(s) or minor(s)--especially if you decide to change from a major to a minor (or vice versa) within the same department.

Renaissance Scholar Requirements
Certification of the breadth of your academic program is necessary in order to become a Renaissance Scholar candidate. Certification by the Renaissance Scholar faculty panel will be based on the extent to which the two fields of study are widely separate and distinct, and require you as a student to stretch intellectually. You may seek this certification as early as your sophomore year or as late as the first semester of your senior year. In addition to the certification, you must first meet all of the university requirements for your degree(s). You must also graduate with university honors and earn a cumulative 3.5 overall grade point average in at least two widely separated concentrations. In addition, you must complete your degree(s) within five years at USC. For certain combinations of major and minor, you may be contacted for additional information.
