Advancing Scholarship in the Humanities and Social Sciences
The Office of the Provost announces a grant program designed to promote the development of high quality and influential scholarly publications in the social sciences or humanities. Grant awards will be from $5,000 to $25,000 for a period of one year beginning July 1, 2010.

Associates Award for Creativity in Research
Associates Award for Creativity in Research Call for Nominations
Annual awards are the highest honors the university faculty bestows on its members for distinguished intellectual and artistic achievements. Any faculty member can be nominated by deans or colleagues. Two awards of $7,500 are presented each year.

Baxter Scholar Program
The Keck School of Medicine is seeking junior faculty research proposals to submit to the Donald E. and Delia B. Baxter Foundation. The Foundation is interested in supporting innovative, cutting-edge research that leads to the development of new therapies, diagnostic tools, and disease prevention. Two awards, ranging from $50,000 to $100,000, are presented each year.

Casden Institute for the Study of the Jewish Role in American Life
Research grant of up to $10,000 to fund faculty research that is relevant to the aims of the Institute.

Center for Enrollment Research, Policy, and Practice
Research grants of up to $10,000 fund original research that expands our collective understanding of salient issues within the field of university enrollment management.

Center for Excellence in Research

Faculty Fellows, through their appointment to the Center for Excellence in Research, serve as leaders, advisors and mentors to fellow faculty and students. Fellowships provide $2,500 per year for programmatic activities.
CER Proposal Review Mentoring Program.
Deadline: Open.
CER is now recruiting faculty to join a pool of proposal reviewers. Faculty interested in joining the pool should have a demonstrated record of success in funded research, as well as a willingness to occasionally review draft proposals written by faculty outside their own academic department. Faculty will be compensated through supplemental pay in the amount of $200 for each proposal reviewed.
Center for International Studies – Faculty Research Grants
The Center for International Studies announces its annual call for applications for the CIS Faculty Research Grants program. The normal cap per applicant is $2500, however special requests totaling up to $4000 will be considered. For more information contact Patrick James, CIS Director.

CIS is calling for the formation of Research Clusters which bring together researchers from different disciplines in order to take on subjects of major scope. Environmental Health Research Pilot Project Grants
SCEHSC Call For Applications for Environmental Health Research
The Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center (SCEHSC) awards one-year pilot projects to support investigators with the opportunity of collecting preliminary data to establish a research project and/or procedures. The goal is to advance environmental health research and to seek external funding for larger scale projects. Program anticipates $125,000 to support five one-year projects. Budgets up to $35,000 are appropriate.

Los Angeles Basin Clinical and Translational Science Institute (LABCTSI)
CTSI Pilot and Feasibility Grant Program Announcement
CTSI develops and supports interdisciplinary and collaborative research that moves scientific discoveries to applications in human health and healthcare. This grant program provides funds up to $50,000 to develop new clinical and translational research projects.

Medical Faculty Women's Association Research Fund Award
The Medical Faculty Women’s Research Fund was originally developed to provide funds to women, primarily on the basis of need, for the initiation or continuation of projects of high scientific merit, and for the general advancement of research activities for women faculty members in medicine and allied health professions at USC. Funding of $10,000 for one year will be based on scientific merit and need.

Mellon-USC Awards for Excellence in Mentoring
The USC-Mellon Mentoring Awards honor individual faculty for helping build a supportive academic environment at USC through faculty-to-student and faculty-to-faculty mentoring.

Annual competition funds research which address issues in metropolitan transportation. Research awards up to $90,000.

Pentecostal and Charismatic Research Initiative
Request for proposals for Individual Grants is designed to support scholarly research in the social sciences and financial support for research into Pentecostalism and charismatic Christianity in four specific areas: Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the former Soviet Union. A total of $1,500,000 grant funding available. PCRI will award up to 15 grants, each applicant may request up to $100,000 over two years to support scholarly research.

Grants to support the engagement of USC students with the arts and humanities and confirm the university's commitment to the central role these disciplines play in public life.

Rose Hills Foundation Science and Engineering Fellowships
Undergraduate Research Fellowship Program Call for Proposals
Each undergraduate student funded by the program will receive a stipend in the amount of $5000 to support full-time research in science or engineering for a period of not less than eight weeks during the period May 19 through August 19, 2010. Each faculty supervisor will receive $2000 for his or her research account for each student supervised.

Southern California Environmental Health Sciences Center
Environmental Health Research Pilot Program Grants
Up to $35,000 to support investigators with the opportunity of collecting limited data to establish the feasibility of a research project and/or to validate the utility of specific procedures or techniques. The goal of this program is to advance environmental health research and to enable investigators to seek external (especially NIEHS) funding to pursue larger scale projects.

Southern California Research Center for ALPD & Cirrhosis
The USC Southern California Research Center for ALPD & Cirrhosis funds approximately four pilot projects each year. Awards of approximately $23,000 are available to support junior faculty with an existing research interest in the Center’s theme; junior faculty with an interest in basic or translational research; or for investigators interested in transitioning to alcohol or cirrhosis research.

Supports research on relations between the United States and China, with funding up to $15,000.

Undergraduate Research Associates Program Grants
Supports faculty engaging in collaborative research with undergraduate students. Awards up to $10,000 for multiple student stipends to participate in scholarly research with faculty investigators.

Viterbi Research Innovation Fund
The Viterbi Research Innovation Fund program is aimed at fostering novel strategic research directions, projects, and activities in the school. Faculty with novel ideas and collaborations are encouraged to apply. Up to $50,000 in Fund support is expected to be awarded.

Major Support for Current Faculty
Up to $25,000 to support faculty by offsetting barriers and career interruptions that hinder research and career development.

Wright Foundation Research Awards
The Keck School of Medicine announces the Robert E. and May R. Wright Foundation Award to promote faculty research in three general areas: arthritis, cancer, and heart disease. Proposals that initiate a new research program or direction and those that are interdisciplinary or have translational potential are highly encouraged. Awards range from $50,000 to $100,000.
Deadline: Spring 2010.
Zumberge Faculty and Research Innovation Fund
Individual Grants and Interdisciplinary Grants
Individual research awards support junior faculty in developing research programs and securing external funding; funds up to $25,000 per award.
Deadline: January 20, 2010 (Individual Program).
Interdisciplinary research awards support cooperative efforts between multiple faculty across different schools and disciplines to build durable collaborative research programs and secure external funding. Small Research Grants provide up to $10,000 for projects lasting three months or less; Large Research Grants provide up to $50,000 for projects lasting up to one year.
