On April 5, 2011 close to 60 Annenberg Graduate Fellows from the School of Cinematic Arts, the Annenberg
School for Communication & Journalism and the Viterbi School of Engineering will present their work at the
Third Annual Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program Research and Creative Project Symposium.
Have you ever wondered about the motivations of video game enthusiasts? Or thought about the epistemic
community created by Wikipedia? How would healthcare change if electronic sensors could more efficiently
transmit a patient's vital signs to medical personnel? These topics, and many more, will be addressed
during the Symposium. The event will feature electronic displays, interactive games and short films that
highlight the exciting, cutting-edge research and creative work currently being undertaken by USC Annenberg
Fellows. The Symposium will also showcase the work of a number of interdisciplinary teams who came together
as a result of the Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program's various networking opportunities.
The USC Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program funds world-class graduate students in the Annenberg School for
Communication and Journalism, the School of Cinematic Arts, and the Viterbi School of Engineering. Fellows
conduct ground-breaking communication and digital media research, advance important new programs in the communication
arena, and constitute an internationally recognized and highly regarded group of communication research scholars and
creative practitioners. Activities, such as the Symposium, help to foster an intellectual community and enable synergies
to develop across the three Schools. Fellows are selected from a large applicant pool representing some of the most
highly recruited students in the world, and students become Fellows only after rigorous review and special nomination by
the program to which they are applying. The USC Annenberg Graduate Fellowship Program is administered by the Graduate School,
and funding for the Program is made possible by the Annenberg Center Endowment.
The Third Annual Research and Creative Project Symposium will take place on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Town and
Gown. Presentations will begin at 1:30pm. A reception and informal discussion will be held from 3:30pm until
5:00pm. The event is free and open to graduate students, faculty and staff. Attendees can stop by any time
during the hours of the event to view the exhibits. For more information, please contact Meredith Drake Reitan,
