May 30/31, 1997

Rutgers, Newark

Presented by the Rutgers Accounting Research Center and Sponsored by the AI/ES Section of the American Accounting Association

Chairman: Dr. Peter R. Gillett

Information technology is no longer merely an implementation tool for accountants but, more importantly, an instrument of change in accounting and auditing. This Colloquium is intended to bring together practitioners and academics to discuss and examine important trends for the future. The format will provide for papers or presentations to seed subsequent discussion of prospects for electronic commerce, intelligent agents, online reporting and auditing, and the role of the Internet and the electronic community in general. The Colloquium creates an opportunity for the exchange of ideas by business leaders, accounting professionals, teachers and researchers on the future of accounting and electronic commerce under the growing influence of developing technologies.
