Daily 9:30 to 12:00 and by appointment

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

* Understand the underlying concepts in information systems

* Examine contemporary information technology

* Explore issues related to information technology

* Review the application of accounting information systems

CLASS PROCEDURES:

* Make-up exams will not be given and final won't be comprehensive.

* Attendance is expected from everyone who is serious about his/her education. You may expect that attendance, doing homework, and doing well on the tests are highly correlated. Good attendance will be considered on borderline cases.

* Class participation is expected and will enhance your learning. You are encouraged to ask questions. I may not have all the answers, but together, we will explore to understand and to learn.

* Group work is important and essential in today's work environment. Learning by doing and making presentations is also equally important. As such, students, in groups, will be presenting the last five chapters in the book. These chapters are application aspects of information systems and are based on what we learn via the study of the first fifteen chapters. These chapters also tie in information systems to accounting, management, computer science, marketing, production, and finance.

* Problems will be assigned and collected for grading at random.

* Additional outside work such as a one page (one-minute) presentation of an interesting topic related to information systems should also be expected.

* Exams will not be cumulative.
