COURSE OUTLINE
Course Objectives
This course deals with the use of Microcomputer Applications in Accounting and where relevant, the use of mainframe and minicomputers. The objective is to provide the student with a functional knowledge of microcomputer technology and hands-on experience with various applications.
Topics to be studied include Hardware (computers and peripheral devices). Disk Operating Systems = DOS (i.e. systems software), and Application software including Spreadsheets, Graphics, Integrated Packages, Word Processing, Data Base Management Systems, Commercial Accounting Systems, "Expert Systems", and Telecommunications.
In addition, Networking and Distributed Processing will be discussed.
