PREREQUISITES
Accounting 293 with a grade of C or better, and BCIS 148 (or MCS 302), and BCIS 340.
OBJECTIVES
Completion of this course will help you participate in management, evaluation, design, and controls of accounting information systems.
Office Hours and Others:
Class Time: 10:00 A.M. TO 11:50 A.M (For Section 1) or 1:00 P.m. to 2:50 P.M. (For Section 2) (Monday and Wednesday)
Office Hours: 3:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. (Monday, Wednesday) and 1:30 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. (Tuesday) OR BY AN APPOINTMENT.
Computer Lab: 2nd Floor (BB 220 and 221), Business School Building.
For your AIS field project, professional quality of printing is expected.
Required and Recommended Textbooks:
1) Accounting Information Systems, Second Edition, by E. L. Summers (1991 Houghton Mifflin Company), and
Process Reengineering: The Key to Achieving Breakthrough Success, by Lon Roberts (1994 ASQC Quality Press, Milwaukee, Wisconsin),
Introduction to AS/400, by Robert W. Janson, (1994 Boyd and Fraser).
2) A course package, containing lecture notes, sample exams, and other materials, may be obtained.
3) Recommended Textbooks: A Pocket Style Manual by Diana Hacker (1993, Bedford Books of St. Martin's Press).

AIS Field Project: 30: 1 Assignment
AS/400: 50: 2 Computer Projects
Peachtree: 20: 1 Computer project
Midquarter Exams: 300: 2 exams
(No makeup midquarter exams)
Final Exam: 100: 1 exam
(No makeup final exam)
Total 500 points
No makeup midquarter exam nor makeup final exam will be given except for reason of illness or other verified emergencies.
1) -5 points can be deducted for each missed session.
2) LATE SUBMISSION OF ANY PROJECTS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
3) You need to bring a large name card every session so that all of us can recognize you. The name card can be creative and unique.
