FASTEN Announces Applications for Partners in Urban Transformation Awards

FASTEN (The Faith and Service Technical Education Network) is holding a contest to award funding to faith-based organizations that partner with non-faith-based entities in ten states: Alabama, California, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Texas, and Virginia. The contest deadline is March 1, 2006.

This year, the Partners in Urban Transformation Awards will focus on three categories of service:

  1. Emergency Disaster Response (short-term relief efforts);
  2. Community Recovery/Rebuilding Efforts (long-term developmental efforts, e.g., jobs and housing);
  3. Services Addressing Deep Pockets of Poverty (e.g., programs serving high-risk youth, healthcare for the indigent, jobs programs for the chronically underemployed, etc. in historically poor/distressed neighborhoods).

Each category will have first place ($10,000), second place ($5,000) and third place ($3,500) winners. To learn more about the contest and the application process, visit the awards program home page.
