Professor Bettine Birge has recently been recognized with several awards and fellowships, including the USC Phi Kappa Phi Faculty Recognition Award, 2005, the Mellon New Directions Fellowship 2006 - 2007, and the USC Zumberge Research and Innovation Fund Award, 2006 - 2007.
Professor Lori Meeks is currently in Japan on a research grant from the Social Sciences Research Council and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science.
IIn early April, 2007, an international conference on modern Chinese visual culture, organized by Professor Xiaobing Tang, will take place at USC. More information will become available through a conference website, which is scheduled for launch in February. The conference has received support from the Chiang Ching-kuo Foundation, administered by the American Council of Learned Societies.
