M.A. IN ECONOMICS AND J.D.
M.A. The USC Gould School of Law and the Department of Economics jointly offer a three-year program leading to the J.D. and M.A. degrees. Applicants must apply to both the Law School and the Graduate School and meet requirements for admission to both. Work toward the M.A. degree normally begins during the student’s second year of residence. Required Economics courses include ECON 500 and 511 or 513 and two others at the graduate level. Students are required to complete 90 units of Law and Economics course work, 4 units of which must constitute a thesis acceptable to the faculties of the Law School and the Department of Economics. To earn the J.D., all students (including dual-degree students) must complete 35 numerically graded law units at USC after the first year. The associate dean of the Law School may make exceptions to this rule for students enrolled in Law School honors programs. For a detailed description of this program, consult the Law School section. |
