M.A. IN ECONOMICS AND PLANNING
M.A. The USC School of Policy, Planning, and Development and the Department of Economics jointly offer a two-year program leading to the M.Pl. and M.A. degrees. Applicants must apply to the School of Policy, Planning, and Development and the Graduate School and meet the admission requirements of both. RequirementsRequirements for completion of the dual-degree program are 56 units, including 24 units in Economics and 32 units in Planning, as follows:
Laboratory/Workshops: PLUS 576L (4 or 8) to total 8 units. Electives: 14 units of electives taken within the School of Policy, Planning, and Development. Thesis: A thesis is required on a subject interrelating Economics and urban planning and development. Students must register in a minimum of 4 units of ECON 594abz (2-2-0) and maintain continuous registration until completion of the thesis. During the summer after the first year of graduate study, the student normally serves an internship in a planning organization. The student must complete a thesis acceptable to both faculties. |
