Teaching French and Francophone Cultures with JEPCultural outreach will be an
important goal of the Center. Through regular cooperation with cultural
and educational institutions in the city of Los Angeles and throughout
southern California, the Center will work to promote teaching of the
French language to a new public of students for whom learning French
has traditionally not been an option.
With the support of the French Embassy in Washington, the USC Francophone Center collaborates with the USC'S Joint Educational Project, a service learning program that places university students in local schools and agencies where they take material learning in their courses and apply it in a real life setting. Students from the College's French classes will plan and teach "French Mini-courses" (eight one hour lessons in French and Francophone Cultures) to children in the neighborhood schools, from 1st to 12th Grade. |
