MAJOR FIELD: Japanese History

ADVISER: Gordon Berger

STATUS: ABD

I am currently employed in a tenure-track position at Frostburg State University and live in western Maryland, but I am finishing my dissertation on the relationship between the urban environments of Tokyo and Osaka, and the development of Korean communities in Japan. This research is helpful in many discussions of diasporia, immigration, and urban studies, as well as in shedding light on the history of Japan's largest immigrant group. At USC I had the opportunity to work as a graduate teaching assistant for survey classes in Japanese, Chinese, and Korean history, and have thoroughly enjoyed my time in the classroom both at USC and the other institutions I have taught at. When I am away from academia, I will most likely be found at home with my wife and kids.
