Go Oyagi was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. His academic interests are in issues related to nationalism, race relations, and social movements. He obtained his B.A. (Economics) and M.A. (Area Studies) from the University of Tokyo. His M.A. thesis, "The Genesis of the Japanese American Redress Movement," explains why and how the
redress movement started in 1970. The redress movement required the US government to issue a reparation and official apology for the internment of Japanese Americans during World War II. The thesis's revised version was published in 2004 in The American Review, the annual journal of the Japanese Association for American Studies (http://www.jaas.gr.jp/periodicals/ARe.html).
