My name is Stefan Smith and I am from the great state of South Carolina. I graduated with honors from Brown University in 2009 with my B.A. in History. My work tends to center around the study of royal masculinities in the Stuart Court in England, including, but not limited to, the study of homosexuality, libel, gossip, slander, and representations of court culture in erotic literature. My undergraduate thesis centered around the relationship between James I and his boyfriend the Duke of Buckingham - casting Buckingham's eventual murder as a hate-crime.
