Master of Liberal Studies Students Head to Stanford University

USC College students attended a summer symposium to present their research with colleagues and alumni from 10 universities worldwide.

Kevin Starr Honored
The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors presented Kevin Starr with a County scroll for his many contributions and efforts to promote literacy and education on September 15, 2009.  Supervisor Mark Ridley-Thomas made the presentation.

Senior writer at the USC Marshall School of Business and recent graduate of the Master of Liberal Studies program, Holden will read poems from her manuscript How Love Comes Home: Los Angeles in Four Voices.

Study culture, politics, economy, and social form through an urban prism of cities at the height of their importance and influence.

Opera, Culture, History, and Thought:  Wagner's Ring Cycle and Our World

Professor James Kincaid

Explore Wagner’s Ring Cycle and its revolutionary importance in music, literature, philosophy, and politics.

Information Systems From Libraries to the Internet

Professor Kevin Starr

History and sociology of information systems.  Philosophical and literary implications of writing, archives, libraries, printing, and publishing from the ancient world to the Internet age.

Acts of Interpretation:  Literature, Film, and Methodology

Professor Tania Modleski

Analyze literature, film, and methodologies for approaching issues of interpretation, readership, and spectatorship.  Examine how interpretation varies across gender, race, class, and sexuality.

Courses are open to non-USC students.
