Faculty in the Psychology Department are engaged in ground-breaking research on a wide range of topics. Our research investigates fundamental theoretical questions about the operation of the human mind and addresses some of society's most pressing needs. The department is home to internationally renowned scholars, including members of the
National Academy of Sciences and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, as well as awardees of major prizes from professional societies. The department has state-of-the-art research facilities, and has strong ties with the Dornsife Cognitive Neuroscience Imaging Center, which is located in an adjoining building.

The department is organized into the following five administrative areas:

clinical science
specializations available in clinical-aging, child & family clinical and adult clinical

brain and cognitive sciences
including behavioral genetics, behavioral endocrinology, psychopharmacology. sociobiology, learning, memory, sensation, and motivation in humans and animals

developmental
studies changes in behavior, cognition, language, social and emotional development from childhood through adolescence and adulthood into old age

quantitative
studies and develops the most robust statistical methods for analyzing data and evaluating research

social
investigates the psychological mechanisms that underlie human social behavior using diverse methods including behavioral experiments, field studies and computer modeling as well as psychophysiological and neuroimaging techniques
