Inauguration of The International Museum Institute

Theme Established for First Workshop of 2006

It was agreed that the evolution of the museum in the 21 st century demands an intensive meditation on its future and on its own means of communication. It was also agreed that we have to think about how and what we are communicating, what are the exhibitions, what are the tools we use, and, to which public(s) we are indebted as we move forward.

Inauguration of The USC/Mexico City Office

Purpose:
IMI convened a small working group on June 29 to launch the Institute to a broader group of Directors so as to make the Institute more inclusive. The IMI was broadened, then, both from Mexico and from Los Angeles . Called "Conversation at Zucca" this launching was led by Los Angeles, National Public Radio Art Critic and introduced Jeremy Strick, director of LA MoCA, Gregorio Luke, Director of the Museum of Latin American Art, Alejandro Pelayo, Mexican Cultural Consul to Los Angeles, Alejandro Avila, Director, Oaxaca Ethnobotanical Garden and Nelly Robles, Director, MonteAlbán, Oaxaca to the IMI
