Political Careers Panel

Dan Schnur, Director of the Unruh Institute of Politics will moderate a discussion on political careers cosponsored by the Career Planning & Placement Center and the Jesse M. Unruh Institute of Politics.  Panelists with exemplary careers in politics who will share their personal success stories, and provide advice and suggestions on the many opportunities available in the field. This panel will conclude with an opportunity to meet and greet these panelists individually:  Paul Vizcaino, Pacific Strategies (former advisor to Mayor Villaraigosa and Miguel Contreras); Mike Madrid, The California League of Cities (former political director for the California Republican Party); Nii-Quarterlai Quartey, Consensus Consulting Group; Julie Soderlund, Wilson-Miller Communications (former spokesperson for Governor Schwarzenegger); and Erin Ross, City Year (LA Director).

The USC Annenberg School for Communication, the Center on Communication Leadership and the USC Unruh Institute of Politics, invite students, faculty and friends to watch a telecast of the presidential debate between Sen. John McCain (R-Arizona) and Sen. Barack Obama (D-Illinois) at Belmont University in Nashville, Tenn. Communication professor Thomas Hollihan, author of Uncivil Wars: Political Campaigns in a Media Age, and Unruh Institute director Dan Schnur will lead the discussion. Other guests TBA. Refreshments will be served.
