Fieldwork Prerequisites

There are several pre-requisite requirements that all entry-level USC OT students need to be fulfill prior to doing any level of fieldwork. As an entry-level OT student at USC, you are required to complete the following:

• Personal Data Sheet and the Learning Style Inventory
• Bloodborne Pathogens Training
• Health Insurance Portability and Accountability (HIPAA) certification.
• Complete the University HIPAA Compliance Education module and have documentation of HIPAA competence. Read more information on how to complete the HIPAA Online Education Program.
• Access the HIPAA Online Education Program.
• Student Health clearance to ensure current compliance for required immunizations and health history
• More information on how to check your health clearance status.
• Access your health clearance status.
• If required by the site, get fingerprinted, have a criminal background check, and/or drug testing. Results should be sent directly to your fieldwork site.
• Fingerprinting can be completed through Live Scan fingerprinting services.
• Background checks can be completed through My Background Check. USC students should use C7S31 as the Order Code.
• Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) Certification
• Certification by the American Heart Association for the entire duration of your fieldwork experience prior to its beginning.
