Lifestyle Redesign® for the College Student
Lifestyle Redesign® for the college student is focused on empowering college students with a diagnosis of ADHD, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia or related disorders succeed in their academic endeavors. The occupational therapist assists the student with time management, adhering to a schedule, health and wellness, transitioning to college, problem solving, planning, and overall support. Lifestyle Redesign® for the college student works in conjunction with Disabilities Services and Programs (DSP) and Counseling Services to better serve the needs of USC college students.
How can an Occupational Therapist help?
- Assist the student in creating and adhering to a weekly academic plan.
- Assess the student’s environment and recommend changes/solutions for optimizing study/work conditions.
- Assist the student with time management strategies, problem solving, organizational skills, etc.
- Plan strategies for increasing the student’s self-motivation.
- Assist the student in structuring a more balanced lifestyle.
- Support the student’s thesis or dissertation process.
The occupational therapist can also work in the student’s dormitory/apartment, work office, library, or another mutually agreed upon location. We have two offices. One is located on UPC at 2653 Hoover St. and the other location is on HSC at 2250 Alcazar Street, CSC-133.
USC student health insurance will cover 20 occupational therapy visits per academic year. There is a $15.00 co-pay and co-insurance fee per visit. Please complete a referral for occupational therapy from your counselor, physician or the student health office. If you prefer not to use your student health insurance, you may contact our office for help with accessing your specific benefits.
