Neuroanesthesia

Our faculty manages emergent neurosurgery, neurotrauma, and emergency neurosurgery cases in one of the largest trauma center in the country.

Neuroanesthesia requires an understanding of CNS physiology, the pathophysiology of neurosurgical disorders, the procedures, and specific anesthetic techniques. We have a special OR suite devoted to neurosurgery for daytime adult cases. There are approximately 50 cases per month completed, ranging from simple stereotactic brain biopsies to more intricate arteriovenous malformations, aneurysms, tumors and spine surgeries. At USC University Hospital, we have a very active neuroanesthesia service with the same range of cases.
