Applying to the CRNA Program
Applicant selection is competitive and based
on multiple admission criteria including academic performance,
appropriate work experience and testing of clinical application
skills, written communication skills, letters of reference,
motivation and potential, Grade Point Average (GPA) and Graduate
Record Exam (GRE) scores. A minimum GPA of 3.0, and, a minimum
combined score of 1000 is required on the verbal and quantitative
sections of the GRE general test. Competitive applicants will
also be interviewed and must demonstrate an acceptable understanding
of the roles and responsibilities of CRNAs. Clinical application
questions will be presented.
Applicants are required to have a baccalaureate degree, RN
licensure, a minimum of 1 year of critical care experience
as a registered nurse, and satisfactory completion of the
following college level classes; statistics, inorganic chemistry,
organic chemistry, biochemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology,
physics and English. Current BCLS, ACLS and PALS certification
are required for enrollment. Conversational Spanish is strongly
recommended. Accepted students must complete a background
screening.
For admissions consideration, all applicants
must submit the following/Application deadline is January
31st, of the year applying:
• Completion of USC graduate application (accessed on
the website and sent electronically http://www.usc.edu/admission/graduate/applyonline/
). The Program code number is 1212. The USC application
fee is $85.00. Please upload statement of purpose and resume.
Send the following items to the Program office:
• Completion of Program of Nurse Anesthesia Supplemental
Application.
• Official transcripts from ALL schools attended and
GRE transcript. (You may upload unofficial transcripts and
GRE score on electronic application also).
• Three letters of recommendation (personalized letters).
PLEASE DO NOT USE THE ONLINE RECOMMENDER
• Current CA RN license, PALS, ACLS.
• For international transcript review, applicants are
advised to complete the application process by December
FINANCIAL AID
Nearly all graduate students receive financial assistance,
and the University of Southern California and the Keck School
of Medicine are committed to assisting students through the
financial aid process. Financial assistance is available from
several sources including traineeships, federal financial
aid and private financing programs. Detailed instructions

for Graduate Study and from the Program of Nurse Anesthesia.
