- Colon and Rectal Surgery
- Sphincter-saving surgery for cancer or inflammatory bowel disease
- Continent ileostomy (Kock pouch, T-pouch)
- Laparoscopic surgery
- Transfusion-free surgery
- Fecal incontinence, including artificial bowel sphincter(ABS, Neosphincter)
- Stapled hemorrhoidectomy (PPH)
- Transanal microscopic surgery for rectal polyps and cancer (TEM)
Dr. Kaiser is a national expert and preceptor for the teaching of Stapled Hemorrhoidectomy, a new hemorrhoid surgery with less pain. He is one of only a few surgeons nationwide performing the Artificial Bowel Sphincter (Acticon Neosphincter) for Fecal Incontinence. Overseeing the Anophysiology Lab, Dr. Kaiser routinely performs anophysiology testing, 3-D endorectal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided biopsies. Dr. Kaiser also teaches laparoscopic colon surgery, and performs all types of laparoscopic, laparoscopically assisted and laparoscopic-hand-assisted procedures for the colon whenever appropriate. Largely responsible for the development of the T-pouch, Dr. Kaiser oversees the performance of this procedure at the Department of Colorectal Surgery. The T-pouch, an improved continent ileostomy, is capable of giving many patients who have experienced continued problems with their previous surgery a new perspective without a bag. Most recently, Dr. Kaiser has added the transanal microscopic surgery for rectal polyps and cancer (TEM) to the services offered at USC.
