Libraries
There are two main Medical Center libraries with
a full complement of textbooks, bound journals, and current
periodicals. The combined libraries contain 52,000 volumes
and subscribe to approximately 1,000 journals and periodicals.
The departmental library located in the 1350
area dedicated to Emergency Medicine residents, which
contains all the latest core texts in Emergency Medicine and
related specialties as well as current Emergency Medicine
journals and periodicals.
Computer Resource and Interactive Training (CRIT) Facility
The Department of Emergency Medicine has extensive computer
resources for the residents and faculty. Slide making capabilities,
optical scanners, copy stands, and a CD-ROM tower with EM
titles are all available. The Emergency Medical Abstracts
database is on line and the entire Micromedex system
on CD-ROM allows residents to access Poisondex, Drugdex, Emergindex
and several other databases through the computer. Access
to the worldwide web is also available as well as modem
access for searches using the USC Medline resources.
